As I opened my May 1999 issue of Sky and Telescope I was deeply touched by Jenny's story. I read the letter several times. I don't have a daughter, but I felt your loss as though I did.

Jenny's short life has touched an incredible number of people. As I go out to my telescope now I remember Jenny's deep love for the stars. Her memory is always there now as I look for instance at the stars of the Big Dipper, realizing Jenny too looked up at those very same stars with such enthusiasm for Astronomy. I even observe a minute's silence for Jenny. It makes one appreciate just how special a single evening observing this beautiful Universe really is.

May Jenny's memory last forever.
