In Littleton, Colorado this morning, there are 15 or 16 murdered high school kids, with dozens more injured - killed by other kids with insanely easy access to incredible firepower. While in Kosovo this morning, the Serbs continue to rape and burn and pillage and murder in their own diabolical way - driving away those who are of no use to them, while enslaving and killing everyone else. NATO bombs rain down on greater Serbia trying to get the attention of those maddened by their hate or pride or whatever it is that has twisted them into believing that co-existence is intolerable and genocide is excusable. But no one there seems to notice or care.
In America many seem to worship their guns. While in Serbia, many seem to worship their brutal instincts. Such madness. Such grief. Such a huge gouge today in my picture of humanity!
But then I remember the kindness shown to me during the last few months. And I realize that humanity can be as loving and caring as it can be murderous and brutal.
So I take my pills, and try to sleep and work when I wake - and hope for a day when peace is restored and pain and humiliation and suffering is all laid to rest.
